Wedding checklist


A wedding check list. For the bride, groom and parents of the engaged couple, the wedding is a very important day. In order to make the special event very memorable, all of the wedding planning details and budget starting from the invitations, to the wedding ceremony and reception need to be planned correctly. Planning your wedding is exciting and fun, but it can also be stressful. A wedding checklist planner is very useful but you will need patience and creativity to plan your wedding day the way you want. 2 years before checklist
  • Announce your engagement and set a final date for your wedding
  • Choose the kind of wedding you want to have
  • Consider hiring a professional wedding planner
  • Set a financial range and discuss the budget and who will pay for what
  • Find a system to keep records for payments made
  • Discuss the guest list with your partner and families
  • Reserve the church for you Nuptial mass
  • Reserve your reception
  • For a home and garden theme ceremony or reception, consider decorators or home
  • Book your photographer, videographer, caterer, musician to play during wedding ceremony and reception
  • Book wedding cars and other necessary transportation
  • Organise wedding insurance
  • Apply for marriage licence with local Register if planning a civil ceremony


1 year before checklist

          • Brides- start thinking about your wedding gown and which style suits you best
          • Select the members of the bridal party eg. best man , maid of honour, witnesses, bridesmaids, groomsmen, ushers ,and other honoured roles
          • Select the colour scheme of your wedding
          • Buy or hire your wedding gown, veil and accessories plus those of the bridesmaids and flowergirls
          • Hire the groom's, best man's and the other men's outfits
          • Have parents select their attire



          6 months before checklist

          • Complete guest list
          • Order drinks for the reception
          • Book hairdresser and beautician
          • Book the flowers: the bride's bouquet, bridal party's bouquets, flowers for your home, for the church together with those decorating the wedding venue
          • Print the wedding invitations and 'Thank You' cards
          • Find and arrange accommodation for out-of-town guests
          • Buy or make the souvenirs
          • Plan your honeymoon and make the necessary reservations. Do not forget any legality required like visas and passports
          • Have a medical examination and even a dental check- up
          • Start preparing the ceremony booklet


          3 months before checklist


          • Send invitations to any guests living abroad
          • Buy your wedding rings and do the engraving
          • Buy champagne glasses and have them engraved
          • Brides: Start the 12-week Beauty count down to ensure you look best on your wedding day


          2 months before checklist


          • Request the publication of banns at the marriage registry
          • Check the men's fittings
          • Have the pre-wedding photographs and video taken
          • Select a dry cleaning and bouquet preservation

          1 month before checklist
          • Buy and special lingerie in time for fittings of the gown
          • Make any alterations to the bride's gown and those of the bridesmaids, flower-girl
          • Buy any jewellery (earrings, necklace etc) and other remaining accessories to be worn on your day
          • Confirm your honeymoon flights, accommodation etc . Confirm that your passports are valid!
          • Confirm the final number of guests with your caterer and finalise the menu
          • Confirm all other arrangements and contracts
          • Plan the reception seating, if you're having a sit-down meal
          • Arrange with respective police stations and local councils for any parking or other permits you might require
          • If you are taking your mobile phone with you abroad check whether you have to notify your service provider
          • Discuss your hens and bachelors parties with your maid of honour and best man
          • Buy your going away outfit
          • Do hair and make-up trial
          • Apply for an international credit card like visa or master card if you don't have one.
          3 weeks before checklist
            • Post the local invitations
            • Give address details and timings to the wedding car hire company
            • Discuss your choice of music with the musician
            • Buy gift for your partner, bridesmaids, ushers etc
            • Order appetisers and drinks for guests visiting your in the coming days
            2 weeks before checklist
            • Organise the delivery of the drinks to the reception venue
            • Prepare and conduct the church rehearsal with your celebrant
            • Collect the marriage documents from the Marriage Registry
            • Collect honeymoon trip tickets. Confirm you have all necessary travelling documents, including foreign money and Traveller's cheques
            • Purchase a guest book and a nice pen
            • Contact your insurance agency to discuss any necessary amendments that need to be your life, car and other insurance policies, to list your partner as beneficiary.
            • Consider extending your home insurance and cover your wedding gifts
            • Open joint bank accounts and decide on a budget and savings program
            • Go out for the hen and bachelor parties. Have fun!
            • Start the necessary preparations to welcome guests at home.
            • Get Form E111 if you are travelling in the EU. With this form you will have the same rights of the local citizens in case you will need to be admitted in hospital while being abroad
            1 week before checklist
            • Confirm any remaining contracts
            • Collect all dresses
            • Confirm that all the wedding participants know their respective duties
            • Appoint a person to deliver any excess food after your wedding to a charitable institution. Why waste!
            • Pack your suitcases for your honeymoon. Remember not to pack any scissors or sharp objects in your hand luggage. It is advisable to pack a change of clothes in your hand luggage just in case you are so unlucky to have your luggage lost in transit or delayed.
            • Leave a copy of your honeymoon itinerary with a relative in case of an emergency

            • Try to find time to visit a health spa together with your partner to relax
            The day before checklist
              • Pack the Wedding emergency kit and hand it over to your maid of honour or bridesmaid
              • Try to find a quite moment to give your partner his/her gift
              • Find the time to say a big thank you to your parents for all they have given you, be it moral or financial support

              Wedding Day
              • Have a nice relaxed breakfast. Hopefully by now you have delegated everything that needs to be done
              • Confirm the delivery of drinks, the going-away outfit, guest book and pen, engagement photo and other items to the reception venue
